Wardrobe Crisis Averted

The popular online site renttherunway.com has opened up a second showroom in NYC! For those of you who have never heard about Rent the Runway, it's simply genius. If you don't feel like spending hundreds, even thousands, on something to wear to an event you can just rent it! There are tons of dresses and accessories that you can look through online and then rent for either 4 days or 8 days and it arrives by 8 pm on the day you are scheduled to have it delivered.

Returning the garments and accessories is super easy, too. You get a prepaid envelope and just slip the items in and send them back. There's no dry cleaning necessary! Also, you can purchase intimates, shapewear, fashion tape, makeup and other beauty essentials, etc. It's no wonder the two women who started this company, Jenn and Jenny, went to Harvard because this website is heaven sent when you're in a bind.

So many people are freaking out about Halloween costumes considering it is in one week. How scary is it that it's almost November? Anyway, RTR even has an occasions section with Halloween costumes! Do you have a million holiday parties to go to and you don't want to wear the same dress twice (I'm guilty of this), but don't feel like spending hundreds of dollars on every dress? Just rent it! There's a fall lookbook and a holiday catalog up right now to give you plenty of options.

If you go to one of the two showrooms (one is in SoHo and the newest is located in Henri Bendel on 5th Ave) you can try everything on before you decide to rent it. As far as rental prices go it is 10% retail price to rent for 4 days and 15% to rent for 8.

It gets better... they have an app, too! If you go here you can just enter your phone number and the download link will be sent to your phone. If you're out and about shopping and you see a dress you love but can't quite afford at retail price, you can use the "Dress Match" portion of the app to take a picture of the dress, fabric, or pattern and the app will find you something similar to rent. If you have a bunch of events coming up you can create lists on the app and create a list of dresses that you like or get recommendations depending on your style and the event.

Even if you don't have anywhere to go RTR is worth checking out and it's good to keep in mind! Warning: going on the site is going to make you wish you had somewhere to go. Everything is to die for.
